Clean, One-Trip Totes
Containers that held a single non-hazardous load and are in excellent shape. These command the highest payout.

Sitting on a yard full of empty IBC totes? IBC Cincinnati pays fair market value for used intermediate bulk containers in any condition.

Sitting on a yard full of empty IBC totes? Whether you have five surplus containers from a production change or five hundred from a facility cleanout, IBC Cincinnati pays fair market value for used intermediate bulk containers in any condition. We buy every major brand — Schütz, Mauser, Greif, Snyder, TPS, and more — regardless of age, cosmetic condition, or previous contents.
Our mission is to keep IBC totes circulating in the economy for as long as possible. Containers we purchase are either reconditioned and resold, stripped for replacement parts, or responsibly recycled — so every tote you sell to us stays out of a landfill. Selling your used IBCs is not just profitable; it is the environmentally responsible choice.
There is no IBC too old, too dirty, or too damaged. We find value in every container and ensure each one is handled responsibly.
Containers that held a single non-hazardous load and are in excellent shape. These command the highest payout.
Multiple-use IBCs with intact cages, working valves, and no cracks. Minor cosmetic wear is expected and perfectly acceptable.
Cracked bottles, bent cages, missing valves, sun-faded plastic — we buy them all. Damaged totes are recycled or parts-harvested, so nothing goes to waste.
IBCs that previously held hazardous or regulated chemicals. We accept these with proper documentation and handle decontamination and disposal in compliance with EPA guidelines.
Understanding what drives the value of your used IBC totes helps you set realistic expectations and maximize your payout. Here is a detailed breakdown of every factor our buyers evaluate.
The HDPE inner bottle is the most valuable component. We check for cracks, warping, UV yellowing, chemical staining, and overall wall thickness. A clear, uncracked bottle with no chemical residue commands the highest price. Bottles with minor scuffing or light discoloration still have good value. Heavily stained or cracked bottles reduce the tote to recycling-grade pricing.
High value: Clear, no cracks, no staining, minimal UV exposure
Medium value: Light discoloration, minor scuffing, labels intact
Low value: Cracked, heavily stained, warped, or chemically degraded
The galvanized steel cage must be structurally sound to support the full weight of a loaded tote (approximately 2,300 lbs when filled with water). We evaluate cage straightness, weld integrity, corner bracing, and corrosion levels. Bent or dented cages that can be straightened are still worth buying. Severely corroded or collapsed cages are valued at scrap-steel rates.
High value: Straight, no rust, all welds intact
Medium value: Minor dents, surface rust, repairable bends
Low value: Collapsed, severe corrosion, broken welds
A functional valve assembly (butterfly or ball valve with intact gaskets) adds value because the tote can be resold without replacement parts. Missing valves, broken handles, or deteriorated gaskets are common and do not disqualify a container — we simply factor in the replacement cost.
High value: Original valve, opens/closes smoothly, seals tight
Medium value: Valve present but needs gasket or handle replacement
Low value: Valve missing or non-functional
What was stored in the IBC significantly affects its resale potential. Totes that held food-grade liquids (water, juice, syrup, vegetable oil) are the most valuable because they can be reconditioned for food-grade reuse. Containers that held non-hazardous industrial chemicals (soaps, detergents, lubricants) have moderate value. Totes that held hazardous materials, pesticides, or dark-staining chemicals have lower resale value but are still purchased for recycling.
Highest value: Food-grade liquids, water, non-staining chemicals
Good value: Soaps, detergents, lubricants, non-hazardous industrial
Lower value: Hazmat, pesticides, dark-staining chemicals, unknown contents
Premium brands like Schütz and Mauser retain higher resale value due to superior build quality, consistent dimensions, and better HDPE formulations. Off-brand or unbranded totes are still purchased but at slightly lower rates.
Newer IBCs (manufactured within the last 3 years) command better pricing because the HDPE has more remaining useful life. Containers older than 5 years may show UV degradation and reduced wall strength, which lowers resale value. The production date is stamped on the bottle.
Wood pallets in good condition add modest value. Cracked or broken pallets reduce the offer slightly because we need to replace them. Plastic pallets hold their value well and are preferred for certain food-grade and pharmaceutical applications.
Even containers with every negative factor are worth something. We buy IBCs in any condition — the worst-case scenario is recycling value, and you still get paid while keeping material out of landfills.
Fill out the form on this page or give us a call. Share the quantity, approximate condition, and what was previously stored in the containers. Photos are helpful but not required.
We provide a per-unit price based on condition, brand, age, and previous contents. Most quotes are returned within a few hours during business days — often the same day.
Accept the offer and we arrange pickup at your facility. Our trucks handle full truckloads (48 totes) or smaller quantities. No minimum — we will pick up even a single unit in our core service area.
Our crew arrives with a flatbed or box truck, loads the containers, and handles all the logistics. You do not need to provide a forklift — we bring our own equipment if needed.
Receive payment on the day of pickup or within 48 hours via check, wire transfer, or ACH. For large lots, we also offer pre-payment before the truck arrives.
We offer multiple payment options to match your preference. Most sellers receive payment on the same day as pickup.
| Payment Method | Timeline | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Check at Pickup | Same day | Most sellers — driver hands you a check on site |
| Wire Transfer | Same day or next business day | Large transactions ($5,000+) and repeat sellers |
| ACH Direct Deposit | 1–2 business days | Recurring sellers who want automatic deposits |
| Company Check (mailed) | 3–5 business days | Sellers who prefer mailed payment |
| Pre-Payment | Before truck arrives | Large lots (100+ units) — funds sent before pickup |
| Trade-In Credit | Applied immediately | Sellers who are also buying replacement IBCs from us |
All payments are issued based on the final on-site count and condition assessment. If the actual condition differs from the initial quote, we adjust the offer transparently before loading begins — you always have the option to decline.
Our offers are based on current market rates and the specific attributes of your containers. Here is what drives the price:
Cleaner totes with intact valves and cages earn the highest payouts.
Larger lots mean more efficient logistics, which translates into better per-unit offers.
Food-grade containers that held non-hazardous liquids are worth more than chemical or hazmat totes.
Newer containers and well-known brands (Schütz, Mauser) hold their value longer.
Proximity to our Hebron, KY facility affects freight costs and can impact pricing.
Current supply and demand conditions in the secondary IBC market influence offer prices.
Once you accept our offer, scheduling a pickup is simple. Here is exactly what to expect from confirmation to loading.
Accept our quote by phone, email, or text. We lock in the per-unit price at the time of acceptance.
Select a pickup date that works for your schedule. Standard lead time is 2–5 business days. Same-week pickup is often available within our core OH/KY/IN service area.
Make the containers accessible for forklift loading. Ideally, stage totes on a flat surface near a truck-accessible area. If space is tight, our crew brings pallet jacks for indoor loading.
Our driver arrives during the agreed window, performs an on-site count and condition check, loads the totes, provides a signed receipt, and issues payment per your chosen method.
Businesses that generate a steady stream of empty IBCs can set up a recurring pickup schedule. We will visit your facility weekly, biweekly, or monthly to collect accumulated containers. Recurring customers benefit from priority scheduling, consistent pricing, and a dedicated account representative.
This is ideal for chemical distributors, food manufacturers, and industrial facilities that cycle through large volumes of IBC totes. To set up a recurring schedule, contact our buying team.
Every container we buy follows a carefully managed pathway to ensure maximum value recovery and zero landfill waste.
Your IBCs are transported to our processing center at 1405 Worldwide Blvd, Hebron, KY 41048. Each container is logged, photographed, and assigned a tracking number.
Every tote is individually assessed for resale potential. We evaluate bottle clarity, cage integrity, valve condition, pallet strength, and any residual contamination. Containers are sorted into three streams: recondition for resale, harvest for parts, or recycle for materials.
IBCs in good structural condition are routed to our cleaning and reconditioning line. They go through our triple-wash process, receive new valves and gaskets, undergo cage repair if needed, and are pressure-tested before entering our resale inventory.
Totes with a usable bottle but damaged cage (or vice versa) are disassembled for parts. Good bottles are rebottled into sound cages. Functional valves, gaskets, and pallets are inventoried as replacement parts for our reconditioning program.
Containers that cannot be reconditioned or harvested for parts are fully recycled. The HDPE bottle is shredded and granulated into regrind pellets, the steel cage is compacted for metal recycling, and the wood pallet is chipped for biomass or mulch.
For regulated industries, we provide a Certificate of Destruction or Certificate of Recycling confirming how your containers were processed. This supports your compliance, audit trail, and sustainability reporting.

“We had 300 surplus totes sitting in our yard after a product line change. IBC Cincinnati gave us a fair quote the same day, picked everything up within a week, and we had a check before the truck left. Could not have been easier.”
“I was surprised they bought our damaged totes. Half of them had cracked bottles and bent cages. They paid us for every single one and even provided a recycling certificate for our sustainability report. Great service.”
“We set up a recurring monthly pickup and it has streamlined our waste management process completely. No more totes piling up in the warehouse, and the payments come like clockwork. Highly recommend for any business cycling through IBCs.”
We send our own trucks to your location — warehouse, factory, farm, or job site. Our drivers are experienced with IBC handling and bring all necessary equipment including forklifts and pallet jacks. You do not need to prepare anything beyond making the containers accessible.
